A large wooden planter solves the problem a cluster of pots never quite does: one generous, continuous run of soil that anchors a space. Enough root room for proper planting: a full herb bed, a screen of colour, a row of veg. And enough visual weight that it looks intentional rather than scattered.
The catch with big planters is that everything wrong with a cheap one gets bigger too. More thin timber to wick water. More flat-pack panels to wrestle. More weight sitting on a base that rots first. Ours are built the opposite way: made by hand in our Kent workshop from solid timber, constructed so water drains away from the joints, and delivered fully assembled, which matters most at this size, because nobody wants to build a 4-foot planter from a diagram.
Our largest planters run to 4ft (1.16m): the Sussex raised bed in tan or black for depth and growing, and the Hastings trough in black for long, narrow runs. All are safe to grow food in, with no plastic liner and no leaching, and covered by our 2-year full guarantee, with 90-day free returns.
