Wooden Raised Bed Planters
A raised bed earns its keep by giving roots room: more soil, better drainage, and a working height that saves your back. The catch with wooden ones is always the same — thin, flat-pack timber that soaks up water and rots out at the base, usually just as the bed is finally full and productive.
Our Sussex raised beds are made to outlast that. Each one is built by hand in our Kent workshop from solid slatted timber, constructed so water runs off rather than sitting in the joints, and delivered fully assembled — you place it, fill it, and plant it the same afternoon. There’s no plastic liner leaching into the soil, so whatever you grow in it is safe to eat.

Frequently asked questions
How deep should a raised bed planter be?
For herbs, salads and most veg, the 225mm of internal planting depth these give is plenty. For deep-rooting crops like parsnips you’d want more, but for everyday growing this is the practical sweet spot.
Can you put soil straight into a wooden raised bed?
Yes. Ours are built and finished to drain, so you can fill directly with peat-free compost — no liner required.
Will a wooden raised bed rot?
The base is where cheap ones fail. Ours are constructed to shed water away from the joints and backed by a 2-year warranty.
Tan or black — which should I choose?
Purely looks. Tan reads warmer and traditional; black frames modern paving well. Same build, sizes and price.
What can I grow in it?
Herbs, salad leaves, strawberries, cut flowers and compact veg all do well. The 4ft is ideal for a mixed kitchen-garden bed.
