About this planter
🔨 Hand-built in our Kent workshop

Each Cotswold is made by a small family team in Kent, then packed flat for the courier. We cut and shape the reeded boards, fit the free liner, and box it with clear instructions so it comes together at home in minutes. Founded in 1982 with a wooden planter, and we're back to building them today.

🌱 A reeded face, safe for edibles

The Cotswold wears a reeded log-lap face: smooth, ridged boards rather than open slats, for a cleaner line along a patio or path. Every board is treated with our own animal-safe Timbac, so herbs, salads and vegetables are safe to plant the moment it's built. It's non-toxic and never tanalised, with nothing harsh to leach into the soil.

🪴 One 4ft length, liner in the box

At 120cm wide and 26cm tall, the Cotswold suits a border edge, a patio run, or the strip along a fence. A liner comes included in the carton, so wet soil sits against the liner and not the bare timber. Fill it, plant it, and it earns its place season after season.

Planter Features

REEDED, NOT SLATTED The Cotswold's ridged log-lap boards give a smoother, more solid face than open-slat planters, so you get a cleaner line along a patio, path or wall.

FREE LINER IN THE BOX A fitted liner is included at no extra cost, so wet soil never sits against the bare timber and the wood stays drier for longer.

FLAT-PACK, BUILT IN MINUTES It arrives flat-packed with clear instructions and just a few basic tools. No specialist kit, no lost Saturday, and most people build it single-handed.

SAFE FOR EDIBLES, PETS AND CHILDREN Treated with our own animal-safe Timbac, never tanalised, so you can plant herbs, salads and tomatoes from the day you build it.

HAND-BUILT IN KENT Cut, shaped and packed by a small family team in Kent, not pressed out by an industrial line or shipped in from a container port.

WEATHER-RESISTANT PINE Made from pine and finished for the outdoors, so it stands up to British damp and frost instead of swelling and splitting after one winter.

SIZED FOR REAL BORDERS A single 4ft length at 120cm wide fills a border, edges a patio, or runs along a fence without looking lost or crowding the space.

FLOOR-STANDING AND STEADY It stands flat on the ground on its own footprint. No wall fixings, no brackets, just set it where you want it and plant.

2-YEAR FULL GUARANTEE Rot, structural and manufacturing faults are all covered. If something goes wrong, we put it right from the workshop where it was built.

90 DAYS, NO STRESS Three months to live with the planter and decide, with free returns. We arrange the collection, so you don't lift a finger.

Why Thousands Choose Trelush.

Real stories from families who've made Trelush part of their garden.

Your planter comes from a workshop

Not a container port. Not a warehouse. Every planter is built in our own Kent workshop by a small family team. You're buying from the people who made it.

Solid through, not flat-pack fiction

Slow-grown Northern European softwood, thick-cut and assembled by hand. Not chipboard with a grain print, not a pressed-panel kit pretending to be timber.

Safe because we treat it ourselves

Timbac is our own non-toxic timber treatment - not tanalised, no harsh chemicals. Plant edibles from day one, with no chemical wait.

Delivered assembled, ready to plant

Almost every planter in our range arrives fully built. Open the box, add soil, plant. No flat-pack instructions, no lost bolts, no Sunday afternoon gone.

If it fails, we fix it - for 2 years

Rot, build, manufacturing — all covered. No exclusions, no small print. We made it. We stand behind it.

A real British business

Proud member of the Made in Britain campaign. Not a logo on imported goods - every planter genuinely made here, in Kent.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Got questions? We've got answers — and if we missed yours, just drop us a line.

Won't a flat-pack wooden planter feel flimsy?

No. The Cotswold is made from solid pine with reeded log-lap boards, so once built it's a solid, steady trough, not a thin panel that flexes. It's cut and shaped in our Kent workshop and packed flat only for the courier. Flat-pack is how it travels safely, not a sign of a lightweight build.

What tools do I need to assemble it, and how long does it take?

Just a few basic household tools, the kind most people already have in a drawer. Clear step-by-step instructions come in the box, and it comes together in minutes, with most people building it single-handed. There's no specialist kit and no lost afternoon.

Will it rot outdoors?

It's made from weather-resistant pine, treated with our own Timbac, and comes with a liner fitted inside, so wet soil sits against the liner rather than the bare wood. Together those keep the timber drier through British damp and frost. A light re-treat with garden oil every couple of years keeps it in good shape for the long term.

Is the timber treatment safe for growing vegetables and herbs?

Yes. Every Cotswold is treated with our own Timbac: animal-safe, non-toxic and never tanalised, with nothing harsh to leach into the soil. Herbs, salads, tomatoes and other edibles are safe to plant from the day you build it.

Does it come with a liner?

Yes. A liner is included in the box at no extra cost. It sits inside the planter so wet soil doesn't touch the bare timber, which helps the wood last longer. There's nothing separate to buy or fit beyond the assembly itself.

How deep can I plant, and what can I grow in it?

The Cotswold is 26cm tall externally, which suits herbs, salads, strawberries, bedding flowers and other shallow-to-medium rooted plants. It's ideal for a productive kitchen-garden border or a run of seasonal colour. For deep-rooted crops like maincrop potatoes or parsnips, a deeper planter is the better choice.

How long does delivery take?

The Cotswold is dispatched by courier from our Kent workshop and arrives flat-packed, ready to assemble at home. Delivery to UK mainland typically takes 3–5 working days. You'll then build it in minutes with the instructions in the box.

Can I add legs or feet to raise it off the ground?

The Cotswold is designed to be floor-standing and sits flat on its own footprint, so it doesn't need legs to work. If you'd like to lift it for stronger presence or to keep it off a damp surface, you can stand it on pot feet or a couple of paving slabs. That raises it while keeping it stable.

How is the Cotswold different from the slatted Sussex?

The Cotswold has a reeded log-lap face, with smooth ridged boards for a cleaner, more solid look, where the Sussex uses open slats. The Cotswold also comes with a free liner included in the box, which the slatted range doesn't. Pick the Cotswold for the reeded styling and the liner; pick the Sussex for the classic slatted trough.

What's the returns policy?

Returns are free for 90 days. If the planter doesn't suit the spot, get in touch and we'll arrange courier collection at no charge, with a full refund once it's back with us. Three months is plenty of time to live with it and decide.
